The Virtual Innovation Society is removing complexity and empowering people to co-create innovative solutions.

The Virtual Innovation Society is removing complexity and empowering people to co-create innovative solutions to solve our most difficult problems. We match PEOPLE to virtual teams, a PLAN, and problem solving PROCESS.  We match vteams to grand challenge competitions and other complex problem solving challenges. There is a multitude of talented, unemployed, and unaffiliated scientists, engineers, technologists, researchers, returning U.S. Veterans, retired professionals, and students in transition that want to work with other people to co-create solutions to our grand challenges AND there are numerous competitions and prizes focused specifically on developing solutions for the grand challenges and global problems.  A short list of competitions: National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenges Program, National Academy of Engineering Grainger Challenge for Sustainability, National Academy of Engineering Charles Stark Draper Prize, X Prize Foundation, Lemelson-MIT Program, Buckminster Fuller Challenge, Planetary Society Projects, DARPA Grand Challenge, Dell Social Innovation Competition, IEEE Student Competition Program, IEEE Change the World Program, NASA Grand Challenge Projects, Office of Naval Research STEM Grand Challenge, NIH Center for Biomedical Computing, INDEX Design Award Program, Humanity+ Gada Award, Kaufman Foundation, Gates Foundation Grand Challenges in Global  Health, Thiel Foundation, and Challenge.gov.

FIVE PROJECT QUESTIONS Required (60 - 90 minutes)

1. What is your innovation?
PEOPLE power innovation! It is in our human DNA to both seek solutions and solve problems cooperatively for our mutual survival. Complexity in the system is the major barrier. The Virtual Innovation Society is removing complexity from the system: matching PEOPLE to teams, a PLAN, and problem solving PROCESS and empowering people to co-create innovative solutions to our most complex problems.
2. Who gains the most?
Members and society.
3. Who pays?
Members
4. What is your success?
Change the way people think about innovation -- innovation is problem solving. Our grand challenges are too important, and the stakes are too high, for us to not take action. Each one of us has the capacity to contribute to solving our most difficult challenges. To take an idea to value creation requires real problem solving: deep, contextual understanding of the problem, a team of PEOPLE with mix of competencies, a PLAN with common result, and a repeatable PROCESS.
5. How will you do it?
Our next step is first official pilot project. While we are designing our innovation process utilizing process design science, we are matching our first member vteam to an important local/regional competition. With success through desired outcomes, we will seek increasingly complex challenges, create our own challenge competitions, and begin generating demand for our member vteam's services.
