To reduce HIV/AIDS and provide education and support for persons with HIV/AIDS.

This project will target persons affected by HIV/AIDS. The latest statistics of the Global HIV/AIDS epidemic published by UNAIDS states that; “by the end of 2009 there was an estimate of 33.3 million persons living with HIV/AIDS, of this, women accounted for just over half of all adults living with HIV worldwide.” The Caribbean region in Adult Prevalence although small in number is ranked second to Sub-Saharan Africa.

Because of the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS within the Caribbean region many persons live in isolation and fear refusing to seek proper treatment and education to effectively combat this disease. We will provide forums whereby persons affected by HIV/AIDS can be educated to encounter feelings of depression and isolation using Art as a medium for expression. The website will allow participant’s art work to remain anonymous, trained counsellors will be at hand to support any trauma which is exposed. Clients will also receive peer support particularly pregnant woman, linking peer counselling anonymously via the group’s website and give daily or weekly support and advice. The website will be the forum whereby persons living with HIV/AIDS can tell their story. Images of their art work will be presented along with messages of support. This in effect will give persons living with HIV/AIDS a voice, identity and a forum.
