Haiti is well-known as an impovished country, with Port-Au-Prince being one of the cities that tops the list. Although in many poor cities, a common issue is violence, such as the gangs in this city, and the lack of clean resources. Many children who grow up in the slums resort to violence at an early age as they find it is the easiest way to control the resources of their area. I believe that if the nation, with enough funding, had a way to control the violence and make this city a better place to live, the city could thrive and could make not only Haiti, but the world a better place. A contributing factor to this major poverty is lack of clean irrigation and water. These resources are controlled by gangs, whom often fight in the streets to maintain control. If these resources were looked after by some sort of guards or authorities, it may be possible to decrease the amount of violence at the same time improving the overall health of the city residents.
