This project will give poverty stricken students a chance to obtain quality education despite their limitation

Sulu province is the poorest province in the Philippines with a poverty incidence level of 63.2%. Within that city is Hadgi Panglima Tahil, which is the poorest municipality in the Philippines with a poverty incidence estimate of 89.7% as of year 2000. This city is made up of chains of islands which make transportation limited to small "bankas" or boats that are manually operated. Electricity is often limited in this area and kerosene lamps are a luxury to have in a household. Students often travel great distances for them to go to a public school because the school in their area was either lacking the books that were needed or were damaged due to a typhoon. We could help these children by collecting old text books that are no longer used by kindergarten to 12th grade schools and sending them to areas like Hadgi Panglima Tahil. We could offer them quality education simply by contacting school principals, teachers, and even school distrct superintendents and have them involved in collecting this service. My mother is a 6th grade teacher and I know for a fact that she has several text books that are no longer used and just collecting dust which inspired me to come up with this plan. I have done this before and I'm almost sure that these books could be shipped free of charge if they are for charitable reasons, thus this project will be succesful.

FIVE PROJECT QUESTIONS Required (60 - 90 minutes)

1. What is your innovation?
It is a charitable service where old edition text books that are no longer used and needed are collected from kindergarten to 12th grade schools to be shipped to Sulu,Philippines. This would give the poverty stricken students an opportunity to acquire quality education despite their economic limitations.
2. Who gains the most?
The poverty stricken students in Sulu, Philippines would benefit the most. Schools in their remote islands would be open if text books were available which would make school a lot closer from home and more convenient.
3. Who pays?
Having done this before, shipping these books overseas would be free of charge because they are for charitable reasons. As for shipping in the Philippines, this would also be free if we direct them to the Kapuso Foudation of GMA, which is a T.V. Network that also provides charitable services.
4. What is your success?
There can only be one result in this plan; the poverty stricken students from Sulu would enjoy a better education, which would open more opportunities for them in the future.
5. How will you do it?
I will utilize social media networks to let raise awareness about my plan and encourage them to participate in this rewarding service. Superintendents, principals, and teachers can be contacted to ask for their assistance and participation. When succesful, all of the books would be shipped to the Philippines via freight boxes and mailed to the Kapuso Foundation for local shipping.
