Mission Literacy is a program from Solidarity Nepal which focuses on basic education for underprivileged children’s and youths. The largest single project ever undertaken by us is “Mission Literacy” that can assist our children to obtain far better education and ultimately a much better future. With outside admissions we hope to have a student base of over 2000 children within 2 years. The school has potential to support the orphanage through admission fees and other facilities. Outside of school hours we hope to run adult education classes, free medical camps, conferences and have a facility for local community meetings. This project also supports the Technical Education and IT infrastructure that can be given to the students and teachers in different schools in the remote districts of Nepal.
Solidarity believes that whether you are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights, there’s no better place to start than in the corridors of Education. Through this project we hope to provide sufficient necessary school materials to underprivileged children’s and IT infrastructure in classes and impart IT related knowledge to the students and staff. We also hope to achieve five important objectives. We plan to establish a learning center for school by providing Learning Materials, Books, Documentary Movies, etc. which will help in child’s development. We also plan to setup an audio visual room for the students and teachers. Through this the students and the faculty members can acquire knowledge visually. We hope that this will make the learning sessions more interactive. We will train teachers in different topics such as how to maintain the computers that are donated and used by the students and how to make the class more effective. We will also give a workshop on the basics of computing to the students. And last but not the least we plan to setup a working computer lab with at least seven computers for the staffs and the students.
We wish to make this project a doorway to other projects and introduce more projects related to IT in the future in different government schools of Nepal with the help of established infrastructure.
