Jerry empowers children to medical independence at an earlier age through play.
Jerry the Bear empowers children with a chronic illness to take control of their own disease. Jerry is an interactive teddy bear powered by robotics and AI. Through play, children learn how to practice the medical procedures and skills they need for the rest of their lives. We aim to accelerate independence, increase compliance, and ultimately facilitate healthy and happy lives for those affected by a chronic illness. We are proving our model with Diabetes and plan to move to other illnesses.

Jerry solves problems of medical compliance and education in young children.  According to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 15,000 children each year are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. These children, along with 10M+ others who are diagnosed with another chronic illness, are not allowed to practice the medical procedures that they will live with for the rest of their lives. As a result, it often takes years for children to learn the skills that lead to independent management of their disease.

Roadmap to Success:

FIVE PROJECT QUESTIONS Required (60 - 90 minutes)

1. What is your innovation?
Jerry the Bear empowers children with a chronic illness to take control of their own disease. Jerry is an interactive teddy bear powered by robotics and AI. Through play, children learn how to practice the medical procedures and skills they need for the rest of their lives. We aim to accelerate independence, increase compliance, and ultimately facilitate healthy and happy lives for those affected by a chronic illness. We are proving our model with Diabetes and plan to move to other illnesses.
2. Who gains the most?
Jerry the Bear solves problems of medical compliance and education in young children. According to the JDRF 15,000 children each year are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. These children, along with 32M+ others who are diagnosed with another chronic illness, are not allowed to practice the medical procedures that they will live with for the rest of their lives. As a result, it often takes years for children to learn the skills that lead to independent management of their disease.
3. Who pays?
In order to finance the early stages of our company and set up our manufacturing lines we are seeking seed investment from angel investors who are interested in taking a stake in equity. Once capital is acquired and our business officially starts from the ground-up, our final product would be available for purchase through a variety of vendors for $100. Parents and loved ones of those affected are committed to paying for Jerry which will provide learning and empowerment.
4. What is your success?
In 12 months, success is having Jerry in the hands of 150 children with diabetes for a beta test, of which we already have 75 signed up. Three years from now that number grows to 7k children with diabetes and in five years becomes 22k children with diabetes and 600k with asthma. We will make this jump to asthma by leveraging the credibility and connections that we have built through Jerry the Bear. Social impact is measured through the comparison of self-reported data to national standards.
