Learning about personal hygiene and safe sex practices should be an important part of education for young girls everywhere, especially girls in an area where sexual transmitted diseases and AIDS are common. Sex education is not taught in most underdeveloped African communities, which contributes to the overwhelming number of people infected with AIDS who go on to spread the virus to sexual partners via unprotected sex. This project entails teaching young women in underdeveloped countries about the female reproductive system, personal hygiene, and safe sex. ‘Happy Girl Kits’ would be provided as teaching tools and real life use. Inside these ‘Happy Girl Kits’ include diagrams and descriptions of the female reproductive system, feminine products including tampons, pads, and wipes, information about sexually transmitted diseases, and condoms. What makes this sex education class unique are the kits that are given to each student. Not only are girls being educated about sex, they have the tools, resources, and information to make proper decisions for their health.
The idea is that these kits would become an everyday household item, such as First Aid Kits.
