Green Mart, a partnership enterprise, is to launch the project with its unique offering GREEN SALTâ„¢ in a small scale particularly in regions that are most prone to deadly diseases like goiter, arsenicosis, hypertension, and diabetes through green consumerism.
Patuakhali is the most poverty-stricken district of Bangladesh with 1.56 million of population, as 69.2% people are absolute poor and live on less than 2122 kilo calorie a day, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics reports. Around 90% people in rural areas of the district had been consuming non-iodized salt because of its low price. Thus a large number of people have been suffering from iodine deficiency disorders including goiter and mental retardation. To make things even worse, almost all shallow tube wells of Patuakhali are arsenic-contaminated, according to recent survey jointly done by the NGO Forum and the Dhaka Community Hospital. So, the people of Patuakhali are greatly endangered.
GREEN SALT™, an organic salt, creates cardiovascular stress in human body like regular salt. But the organic flakes in GREEN SALT™ nourishes heart muscle and drains the inner being with rich salty nourishment, thus relieves tension in blood vessels weakened by the sodium of salt. GREEN SALT™ contains calcium (80 mg) 8 times higher than cow’s milk, beta-carotene (28000 iu) 10 times higher than carrot. Unlike regular salt, it contains chromium which is an essential mineral for glucose utilization and control of diabetes. It provides zinc which is necessary for men's sexual health and skin. It contains proteins which are considered biologically complete. Again, regular consumption of GREEN SALT™ is a remedy of arsenicosis.
Latachapli of Kalapara Upazila in Patuakhali is one of the four points where government imposes ban on catching Hilsa fish during its breeding season. Our project creates the interim solution for 63 poor fishers to sustain their incomes. In addition, 55 women will be employed in farming the organic component of GREEN SALTâ„¢ which will simultaneously create employment and women empowerment.
Moreover, the GREEN SALTâ„¢ is a novel project that ensures nutrition to starving, cures fatal diseases and saves medical expenses, alleviates poverty by creating employment and thus entails a great deal of social revenue as well as sound profit for the venture.
