Team Gift
Gif+ allows nonprofit organizations to utilize all methods of donating.

Gif+ (pronounced Gift Plus) is an idea based off of television commercials which request donations for a specific cause. While those commercials can be effective in pulling an individual's heart strings, most of the time, that is where the relationship between the consumer and the charity ends. Most users are too lazy to pick up the phone, making it harder for charities to get that donation that they're hoping for. Gif+ is a way to help charities get to that end point of a donation. Gif+ would be a program integrated with your cable and television to allow consumers to donate to a charity simply by pressing a button on their remote. How would this work exactly? Well, when a commercial for a non-profit organization airs, a pop up will appear on your television screen, prompting the user to select "+" followed by the number amount that they wish to donate. After confirming that they wish to make this donation, the user will receive a pop up thank you message on their television screen. The charge will appear on the user's cable bill, allowing them to pay for their donation when they pay off their cable bill.

FIVE PROJECT QUESTIONS Required (60 - 90 minutes)

1. What is your innovation?
Our innovation is a new method of allowing people to make donations to charities. When a commercial for a non profit organization appears on their television, instead of having to call a number to donate, the user will be able to simply hit a button on their remote control and have the donation charged to their cable bill. The cable company can then issue a donation check to the charity that was chosen. This innovation will allow charities to reach a new audience of donors.
2. Who gains the most?
The non profit organizations who decided to participate in Gif+ will benefit the most. This product will help them not only reach a new audience that might have not otherwise donated, but also explore new methods of fundraising. Charities will be able to reach those donors who might have been too lazy too pick up the phone, but are more than willing to donate when all they have to do is press a button.
3. Who pays?
There are a variety of people who would have to be committed to paying for the social innovation to be a success. First, the cable companies would have to agree to allow this innovation to be part of their cable bill and be willing to cut a check for each of the charities. Next, the charity would have to agree to advertise on TV and be willing to pay for this service. Finally, the television watcher would have to be willing to make a donation to the advertising charity.
