Forward Tutoring aims to develop academic achievement and to promote youth volunteerism in local communities.

Need some extra help with school? Looking for engaging volunteering opportunities?

When it comes to Tutoring:
School-sponsored tutoring is limited by teacher availability and students' schedules and transportation, while private tutoring is very expensive. Between these two options, you either sacrifice quality attention and time or your checkbook.

That’s where Forward Tutoring comes in. As a nonprofit organization, Forward Tutoring provides underserved and financially challenged students with two unique online services:
 1) free, live online tutoring via a whiteboard-like program
and 2) a diverse, student-oriented, local, volunteer opportunity database.

Through an interactive website, Forward Tutoring removes financial barriers that impede students' pursuits of academic rigor and promotes youth involvement throughout communities. In our novel business model: every hour a student volunteers in the community translates to a set number of credits for live, one-on-one online tutoring at www.forwardtutoring.org.

Forward Tutoring creates a perpetual cycle of volunteerism and academic success between students, tutors, and nonprofit organizations—with the convenience of technology.

  • Nonprofits post and promote exciting and relevant volunteer opportunities for Forward Tutoring users to get involved in.
  • Students seek tutoring, then volunteer in their communities to obtain the tutoring credits. Tutoring is free!
  • Academically talented students provide free, live online tutoring for students who need of help. After passing a comprehensive qualification process, tutors not only receive volunteer hours for their tutoring time but also become eligible to receive exclusive internships and scholarships from supporting organizations and corporations.

Money goes farther when invested in Forward Tutoring. As opposed to directly supporting individuals and organizations, Forward Tutoring is an innovative platform that empowers individuals and organizations to support one another. Embark with us to make quality education accessible to all students and to encourage youth involvement in communities nationwide!

Roadmap to Success:

FIVE PROJECT QUESTIONS Required (60 - 90 minutes)

1. What is your innovation?
Forward Tutoring provides free, online, private tutoring for high school students in math and science. Students then pay it forward their tutoring to the community by volunteering. On our website, students can find volunteering opportunities in the community. Our qualified student tutors can receive Forward Tutoring exclusive scholarships and internships from sponsors. We remove financial barriers for achieving academic success and promote youth involvement throughout communities.
2. Who gains the most?
Forward Tutoring benefits both students and organizations through our pay-it-forward attitude. We provide the under-served and financially challenged high school student population with free, private, online, and reliable tutoring. Organizations reach the students and reward volunteers with free tutoring for helping the community. Our tutors are eligible for exclusive scholarships for college and internships from partners.
3. Who pays?
Students make up the biggest component of Forward Tutoring and give their time as certified student tutors and also as volunteers in the community. But students’ time volunteering in the community or on Forward Tutoring is rewarded with free tutoring or exclusive scholarships and internships. In return for the tutoring, students “pay” by volunteering in their community. Our sponsors and partners provide exclusive opportunities to our tutors. Grants and fundraising will fund running the program.
4. What is your success?
Success is determined by our users’ experience. We monitor our students’ success by how many hours they contribute to the community and reported academic improvement. Surveys at the end of tutoring sessions will help monitor tutor quality. The number of opportunities and organizations we partner with determine our success in the volunteering. Our success is determined by how our users feel about Forward Tutoring and the sustainability of the system around the world.
5. How will you do it?
Our university student liaisons will establish Forward Tutoring Chapters around the nation at various colleges. The local chapters create connections with the nonprofit organizations and high school students. These driven student liaisons as the forefront for building chapters will be developing the network of students, organizations and sponsors. Our administration team will determine best methods of expansion and training. .
