ClinicNextToMe will improve accessibility of heathcare throughout the world.

ClinicNextToMe will involve building a mobile and web based system that will enable people in need of health care to Geolocate clinics / health centers nearest to them as well as provide details on service offerings. The mobile app – ClinicNextToMe, will use the user's current location and  perform a search and provide a list of clinics within in five miles of where the person is as well as display services offered

The mobile app will support both GPS and Form search for the nearest healthcare sites on smartphones. Currently in Uganda more people are purchasing smartphones thanks to vendors such as Samsung, ZTE, Apple and Huawei. The use of smartphones has further been boosted by telecommunications operators who are promoting their usage to the masses. Phones operating on the Android platform are the more common ones since they are relatively cheaper than for other competitors such as Apple and BlackBerry.

A mobile app will also be created to collect data about healthcare sites including their positioning. This will be handy for individuals who will be going out to gather data about clinic services and location.

We plan to first introduce the app to Uganda and then roll it out to the rest of the world. Under this phase the app will be rigorously be tested to determine whether it is safe for usage on a large scale. Improvements will be made before it is rolled out to the rest of the world. We hope to develop the system in a period of 12 months all depending on the available financial and human resources. We are going to use the Dell Social Innovation Challenge Crowd Funding platform provided on When You Wish as a starting point to raise funds that will assist in completion the application. We have a target amount that we hope to have reached our target amount by 19th April 2013.

Once the system is completed, it will be supported by donors and advertisers. The donations collected will be used to improve the application in order to extend it's reach and therefore implement the projects goal of covering the whole world. Our system will be supported by donors and advertisers will pay to sustain the innovation. Advertisers will be requested to buy advertising space on the project website in order to promote mainly health products.
The development team will also be willing to work with Coaches and Mentors that shall be provided by Dell.

FIVE PROJECT QUESTIONS Required (60 - 90 minutes)

1. What is your innovation?
Our innovation is to coming up with a mobile app and website that will make it easy for individuals to know health centers nearest to them. Currently in Uganda and in the world at large such an app has not been developed yet. When the app is fully developed, it will be used in case of emergencies when people are involved in accidents. It will also be used by travelers to find health centers in their new locations. In-case of health emergencies and accidents, there will be less suffering.
2. Who gains the most?
People in accidents, emergencies or any urgent health related issues gain most as they will be able to search for the health centers nearest to them at no cost using either the mobile app or website. In order for the mobile app to be used, one will be required to have a GPS enabled smartphone. For the start only iOS and Android platforms will be supported due to their popularity among smartphone users.
3. Who pays?
Donors and advertisers will pay to sustain the innovation. Advertisers will be requested to buy advertising space on the project website in order to promote mainly health products. Advertisers will then be able to get traffic from the project website directed to their website/s. The website will also have a provision for plugins which will enable people to make donations to the project in order to sustain it.
4. What is your success?
Our success is developing a fully functioning healthcare site Geo-location system usable by people all over the world. In the next 12 months we hope to improve people's livelihoods through improved health accessibility. Three years from now we hope that we shall have over 200 million users of the app all over the world and we shall thus acquire more server space to meet the growing needs of the users of the app. Five years from now we hope to have a fully maintained and evolved system.
5. How will you do it?
Our team will conduct research about how Geo-locating can be applied in the finding of healthcare sites in a very user friendly way. The solution will improve the ability of people to access healthcare first in Uganda. Our approach is to develop both mobile and web based applications that will be used by people to find healthcare sites nearest to them. We intend to form partnerships with organizations who through advertising with us will enable us to raise funds to support and expand the project
