This project has its basis in the tripod of sustainability: economic, social and ecologic.

The residents of Complex of Alemão (estimated in more than 100 thousands) haven’t had the opportunity to succeed. This mainly, due to the drug dealings that happened throughout the years and the present violence in the area. However, the police has adopted a project called “U.P.P”, which brought back the community spirit and eliminated drug dealing.

Now, SIFE Ibmec-RJ members together with voluntaries and residents of Alemão seek to find partnerships with hotels and hostels, local NGO’S, travel agencies and the local businesses. Those partnerships aim to improve the community through economic development.

The project aims to show the reality, culture and diversity found in the area. In addition, together with the aims shown above, it seeks to eliminate the prejudice from outsiders and guarantee that inhabitants could generate some kind of income. Those inhabitants could become travel guides, creation of Hostels in place of typical residences for tourist’s settlement, partnership with local families, which would introduce its own reality and house to the visitor, creation of cooperatives and/or centres to sell local products such as souvenirs, t-shirts and local recycled handmade objects and gifts for the visitors.

Partnerships would be with Biology students for research and local biodiversity orientation and also tourism, tourism agencies, hostels and hotels to lead groups of tourists and local NGO’s working as a group in making people capable and graduated, cultural events accomplishments and organization of cooperatives for the production of gifts.

The partnerships and investors would be fundamental first step as it would sustain local advertisement, courses, uniforms, office materials, initial purchase of gifts and stand to be assembled in the Bonsucesso’s cable car station for reception of the visitors.
