TARC will help African refugees here in America to learn English and how to assimilate into American society.

The plan is for The African Resource Center to be a community center for Africans - a place where they can learn about new job opportunities, about how to become American citizens, how to learn English, how to register children for school, and many more services. Right now we are incorporating the resource center and developing an Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP) for refugees here in Mobile, AL, so that they can quickly evacuate the city and receive help boarding up the windows of their homes, all for free. Our difficulty is the lack of funding we have, but with enough volunteers, support, and hopefully grant money from Dell, we will truly aid these refugees of war by giving them a chance at a new life, filled to the brim with opportunity they have never experienced.

FIVE PROJECT QUESTIONS Required (60 - 90 minutes)

1. What is your innovation?
African immigrants/refugees in Mobile, AL, and in America in general, have the same lack of unity that exists in Africa, except that now in America they need to learn English and be provided with the same services that other Americans enjoy. Our African Resource Center will help to make their lives easier with English classes, registration, citizenship, finding jobs, and other pressing issues.
2. Who gains the most?
The African refugees, our targeted group, gain the most. They will receive these services for free, with the help of our sponsors and with you, our lovely donors.
3. Who pays?
Those who help to fund our project receive the satisfaction of knowing that their kindness benefited an organization designed to help others, and in future years when The African Resource Center has become a national organization capable of helping millions of African immigrants, those who have helped make it a reality will remember that and cherish it all their lives.
4. What is your success?
Thus far we have provided local African immigrants with a place to come and meet people, a place to hold their church services, and more. But we have a lot more work to do and must do it as quickly as possible.
5. How will you do it?
By attaining the money through grants and personal donations, TARC will begin by hiring employees who will maintain records of those who register for TARC services (help finding jobs, Emergency Preparedness Plan, classes, etc.) and collecting volunteers for community outreach and helping build homes for new African refugees.
