An exchange program connecting theory to practice.
Does the name seem redundant? It isn’t. Many top scholars care more about contributing to academic journals than to the world around them, but it’s not their fault: The structure of academia encourages a focus on theory over practice and publication over implementation.
Until now.
Imagine psychologists trading places with teachers, policy makers with those who are affected by their policies, poverty scholars with the impoverished, political theorists with politicians, sociologists with human rights organizations. Each has lot to learn from the other, and can take what they learn back with them after their year of interdisciplinary exchange.
FIVE PROJECT QUESTIONS Required (60 - 90 minutes)
3. Who pays?
Just as in college exchange programs in which students continue paying the tuition of their home university, participants in this program would continue to be paid by their original job and would continue to receive their annual salary even through their year "abroad." Thus, participating institutions and organizations pay no additional fee for this program, they simply have to be willing to participate.
5. How will you do it?
We will recruit universities, organizations, and individuals to participate. Faculty who want to re-invigorate their research with a fresh perspective, universities who want to bolster their public image of contributing to a greater good, individuals who want to learn cutting edge theory and research to apply to their jobs but who aren't interested in pursing a full Ph.D.
